Wastegate
Review by Music Man

I showed up at Sweetwater in Gwinnett for one reason: Wastegate.

I kept hearing about the energy these guys pour onto a stage and since I'm all about vibe and power in a live band, I've been meaning to check them out. They were on fire! From the opening song, Three Words, I could tell that Wastegate

meant business. The stage show was furious and the crowd was eating up every minute of it. Definitely in the "heavy" realm of rock, these guys offer something different. Emotion and dynamics ruled the songs. Wastegate has a sound all their own. Bashing all comparisons, they ran through a solid set of catchy songs ("Too Late" and "I am Gravity" stuck out with me) with comfort and charisma. Fronted by the lyricist, Gogi, on vocals and guitar, Chad on guitar, Carlton on bass and Devin pounding the drums, Wastegate has a solid lineup. The sky is their limit. They are currently lined up to play at the debut "Local Love Loud" show later this summer with Lucideon (other Atlanta rockers) and more… This is a benefit for the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital and it should be a day of tremendous music. If you like the heavy stuff, I highly recommend that you check Wastegate out. They have a great website and the fans pack it in every time that they play a show. I'll be at the Local Love Loud show and I expect to see all of you there. You want brutal power? You want to get kicked in the face? You want songs you'll be screaming on the way home in the car? Check out Wastegate.

I'll see you all next time I'm in Atlanta.
